Quattro @ Avenue K

It was a very lovely and quite through out yesterday and all of a sudden, we were invited to Quattro to celebrate a friend's birthday there. So while waiting for another friend to arrive at our meeting point in SS2 before our departure to Quattro, I was supprised when the birthday girl walked up to me and asked me what am I doing there. After explaining to her the details and all, she left us to join her friends for dinner.

As it was still early and the guest of honor is still having dinner, my friend and I left Kayu and headed to Orient Express to shoot some pool and throw some darts. The joint was filled with soem elderly people drinking and being merry. We headed straight to the pool table and started playing with hope to kick out the winner of the previous game.

I was quite pleased to find out that my magical touch on the table is still there and naturally I defeated everyone that challanged me. After winning about 5 to 6 games in a row, I decided that I've had enough and handed the cue to the oncoming players so that they can enjoy the game with their friends as well.

From there, I challenged my friend to a game of darts and by the time we finished 3 games, the guest of honor was ready to be picked up . We left OE and headed back to Kayu before continuing down to Quattro. As we walked into avenue K from the side entrance, I could hear the bass pumping out from the club which was rather amazing. As we got in to Autumn, it was filled with various groups of people from the back entrance right up to the front entrance.

We managed to find our friends who were there much earlier after their meeting and settled down. I was enjoying the music along with a couple of drinks then I noticed the big group that was sitting at the table right next to us. If I remembered correctly, there were at least 15 to 20 girls on that table with only 2 to 3 guys.

So after downing a few glasses of whiskey, I managed to grab the attention of one of the girls on the next table and we started drinking and drinking. I was forced to down a tequila with Sprite followed by 1/2 a bottle of Heineken and my glass of whiskey. After that 3 in a row chase, I was rather high and was enjoying myself even more. The birthday girl was quite blasted by then so the other guys on the table was taking care of her.

The setup of the place was beautiful coupled with a superb sound system and also a fantastic DJ which made our night very enjoyable. After finishing 2 bottles of whiskey and a bottle of champagne, it was time to head home. By then, it was around 2 something in the morning. Each of us departed with the remaining 4 of us heading the same direction. We somehow ended up at Lotus restaurants for our supper before heading home.

All in all, it was a very enjoyable evening and I'm looking forward to pay Autumn another visit sometime soon.

Till my next post...

Cheers

Nothing to do

Well, I had to open my big fat mouth to challenge somebody else to update their blog and was told to update mine as well. So as I was looking around for some inspirations, I stumbled upon a funny article posted by my friend recently about the police beat base in Chow Kit area. Without any hesitation, I cut and paste the whole thing over to my blog just to share it with my fellow bloggers who once in a while enjoy this kind of news..

It has been a very hectic week for us in the office with things not going the way it suppose to. To make things worse, I've been having severe diarrhoea and have been practically running to the toilet every 2 seconds.

As it is, I was quite stressed up and my mom had to add more of it by calling me almost every night to discuss over the project that she under took to change over the place that I was at during my birthday celebrations as it was not going anywhere. So with all this adding up, it is no wonder why I've not blogged for quite a while.

Anyway, to all the readers out there, please be cautious of what you eat and drink as I suspect there is a virus going around causing food poisoning. In the span of 2 days, 2 of my friends and me had been infected by this virus. the first case was in Kota Kemuning followed by Shah Alam and the third one was in Penang. The second and third was about the same time. We suspect it has something to do with the water we drank as we have been eating the same food at the same place quite often and never had we been hit by food poisoning.

So please do take all the necessary precautions and stay safe.

Till my next blog......

Cheers

Parliament : Cops scared of crooks, so based closed!

Title published in the Star - Thursday, October 16 2008

The following story from the Star made my start to the weekend all that better (and funnier) coming from our dear Mr Minister of Internal Affairs (MahaRaja Lawak Msia) in a written response to a question in Parliament:-

KUALA LUMPUR:

A police beat base in the Chow Kit area of downtown Kuala Lumpur was closed down

Why you ask?

………because it was in a location that was considered unsafe,. said Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar

And what else?

In a written reply to Dr Lo’ Lo’ Mohamad Ghazali (PAS-Titiwangsa), Syed Hamid said the beat base was located in a dirty areawhere there was a possibility of being exposed to contagious diseases.

Dirty area? Contagious disease? And?

The presence of criminals also posed a threat to the safety of police officers, he said.

Syed Hamid said that the police were looking for a new location to build a police beat base that would be able to give “guaranteed and continued service to the public.”

You mean in other places where it is in a clean area, not exposed to contagious disease and not posed a threat to the Police? In other words, the Cops are only for show and to look pretty? And only for arresting or pinning down politicians and other pressure groups?

You’re a funny man, Mr Minister…..

Suprised

Today's breakfast was rather interesting than usual. Normally I would have either roti canai or noodles for breakfast but today's menu was rather different. Some would say I'm a lunatic for this kind of act. I had the perfect adrenalin to kick start my day while I was driving to work.

I was somewhere near HICOM Shah Alam when I saw this silver Honda Civic. It was the generation before the current ones. Well what can I say, 1.7 liters with V-Tec. Probably churning out 120 to 130 horses on the wheels as compared to my old jalopy which is a Wira 1.8 single cam. We were both standing at probably at 120km/h when he tried to pull away from me and that was when the fun started.

I dropped to 3rd gear and floored it right up to 6000 rpm at probably 170km/h while tailing him closely with him desperately trying to save face as I would presume nobody driving a Wira could tail him this close before. As the traffic got heavier, the both of us looked for an alternative lane to continue our battle without having to brake much. It was getting closer to the Kota Kemuning exit which I was suppose to take.

In a split of a second, there was an opening that just popped up which allowed us to cut in from the right lane straight into the Kota Kemuning exit. It was quite a clear road till the left hander coming up in 3 seconds. The right lane entering to the corner had 3 cars while the left lane was empty. He was about 1 car length from me as he entered the corner. As I approached the corner, I was probably doing 120km/h cutting into the corner without braking while flooring the accelerator. With the faster exit speed, I overtook him as the both of us exit the corner heading on to the straight road that leads to the roundabout.

Weaving left and right between cars at 165km/h till I reached the roundabout with a very angry Civic who has just been humiliated by this old jalopy with his petrified girlfriend in the car. As I took the rounabout slowly to head to my office, the Civic sped off to the other direction with an expression that I can never forget. I'm sure I'll be seeing him very often from now on as we both work around the same area.

Well this is not the first time I've had this kind of encounters before. My previous encounters were much better cars but lacked the courage or brains to emerge victorious in the encounter. The best encounter was racing with a Ferrari through the uphill corners of Bukit Damansara heading to Section 16, Pj.

The other was running with a Lotus Exige from the Puchong toll on KESAS right up to HICOM. He made a wrong move which gave me a chance of blocking him from overtaking me at probably 180km/h. While we were side by side, I was given the "bird" by him to show how pissed he was at that time. I can still remember the look of his car and his face till today.

Anyway, to all the kids that is reading this, please don't try this at home or on any roads as it can be very dangerous. If you guys want some fun, then head on over to the go-kart tracks and speed all you want.

Hope you guys had fun reading this.

Till then.....

Cheers

Finally over and done with

Well it's finally over and done with. I've managed to get back to KL in one piece without burning a big hole through my pockets as compared to my previous years of going back to Penang for my birthday celebrations.

With the fuel hike and all, I've decided to take the bus back to Penang as it would definitely by much cheaper as compared to driving up. So with this savings, we would have more booze..(drunkards)

I parked my car at Kelana Jaya lrt station to hop on a lrt to get to Pasar Seni. Through out the journey, I noticed that I'm not the only one that takes the lrt to Pudu just to hop on a bus to get back to their various hometowns. All of us were heading to 1 common place to get on the bus in order to save up some money.

As the lrt approached the Pasar Seni station, we got ready to get down the lrt and a 15 to 20 minutes walk to Pudu bus station. As we walked pass Petaling Street, we noticed the amount of people doing their last minute shopping's for clothes and other accessories for Raya which is just a few hours away. Upon reaching our destination (finally), we saw quite a number of stalls just outside the jam packed bus station selling more clothes. I finally realized that this a normal routine for these traders to set up make shift tents to sell clothes and shoes during Ramadhan just to get extra cash for their Raya celebrations.

After waiting for more than half an hour, we finally got onto the bus and made our way back to Penang. Somehow, it was almost impossible for me to sleep as usual so I decided to mess around with my phone till it ran flat. After almost 5 hours, we finally arrived at the Sg Nibong bus station somewhere around Bayan Lepas area. It was a great feeling to be back as I was looking forward to get home and visit my mom and kid brother. Besides that, all my friends were waiting for me as we've not met up for quite a while.

So as I got home, I was surprised to see my mom still up and about waiting for me to come home. It was about 4.30 in the morning then...We stayed up till 5 catching up with the past and current issues at hand and also planned the itinerary for the next few days. Finally crashed onto the bed after that.

So after going around the island looking for people and food, dusk has finally took over and the plans for that evening were being excuted while I was having dinner with my mom and brother in this nice little North Indian restaurant just opposite Paradise Sandy Bay hotel. The food was excellent with a cosy environment and great service. Pricing was rather reasonable too.

After dinner, the main plans were to meet up and celebrate my birthday in one of our ex colleague's place in Pulau Tikus just opposite Adventis hospital. It's called Melissa's. We are drinking and singing till 3 something. We decided to have a little sea breeze to go with our supper and we ended up in Khaleel's by the sea for supper. By the time I got home, it was somewhere around 5 in the morning with my head spinning like a top going at it's fastest.

By the time i finally got up, it was 12pm in the afternoon with my mom rushing me to get ready for lunch. We made our way down to New World Park for our brunch with the whole group of friends who were still kinda blur from last night. After lunch, our next stop was Queensbay Mall as I've never been there even though it has opened it's doors many many years ago.

I must say that it felt rather KL this time around with most of the familiar shops and eateries around. The development done to the once abandoned mall and it's surrounding was just amazing as this is what we needed for Penang. I must say CP group has done a great job with developing the whole area. For most of you who didn't know, CP group is the people responsible in bringing us Eastin hotel and CP Towers which is located at Section 16 PJ.

So all in all, I had a very interesting birthday this year with all the activities lined up for me by my friends. The question is, would there be another marking my 30th birthday next year or would I go through it alone in KL?

Well..till my next posting.....

Cheers
